The Office of County Investigations (OCI) investigates fraud, waste, and abuse of resources in County government. These investigations provide unique insights into the operation of internal controls and County business processes, and the causal factors contributing to fraud. We leverage our investigative findings and insights to make impactful recommendations to improve the integrity, economy, and efficiency of County operations and the functioning of internal controls. OCI issues Improvement Opportunity Reports (IORs) to formally document these recommendations, ensure that department management and the Audit Committee are aware of our findings, and to provide transparency and accountability for the corrective actions taken to address them. We also conduct and report out on follow-up reviews to ensure that the recommendations are implemented, and that corrective actions taken to address them result in lasting and meaningful changes.
